Professor Prasad Kaparaju has over 22 years of experience in environmental engineering and waste management with special emphasis on biomass-to-biofuel conversion technologies, biomass pre-treatments and renewable energy. He was the chief investigator for the research projects funded by CRC RACE for 2030 , Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Australian Government and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Australia. Dr Kaparaju is the first researcher to demonstrate biogas production and upgrading the biogas to bio-CNG for vehicle fuel use in Australia. He was one of the first established researchers to initiate research on integrated biorefinery from lignocellulose biomass such as wheat straw, which was subsequently found applications for similar biorefinery concepts e.g. waste biorefinery and other lignocellulose biomass. To date, Dr Kaparaju has received $5.86 million in research funding from the State and Federal Government, Industries and consultancies. Dr Kaparaju is an expert on conducting workshops and training programs in Renewable Energy Systems, Sustainable Energy Systems and Biogas Technology. He has experience in training waste management professionals from Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Mongolia.
