BIO

Dr Thong Nguyen received PhD in Computational Statistics & Data Sciences and Master of Spatial Science Technology from University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Australia. Dr Thong received Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research, Unit Specific Publication Excellence Award, Postgraduate Research Scholarship, and Graduate Coursework Prize from UniSQ. His research interests include developing/applying statistical & AI models, GIS and remote sensing techniques. He has significant experience in HDR supervision, data analysis, visualisation, spatial modelling, environmental and agricultural mapping/monitoring using remote sensing data, and climate extreme modelling with proficient skills in several programming languages (R, Python, Matlab, and JavaScript) for high-performance/parallel implementations, excellent written/oral communication and problem solving and learning skills. Dr Thong has published widely in the fields of climate, agriculture, environment, hydrology, energy, and risk management. He works closely with national and international institutions and industry partners on projects focusing on agricultural resilience, climate risks, and risk transfer solutions.
