Dr Vickers is a bioengineer with expertise in organism engineering, synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, isoprenoids, precision fermentation, and industrial biotechnology. She has experience in engineering in a wide range of plants and microbes to produce industrially useful sustainable biochemicals. Her expertise lies particularly in the terpenoid/isoprenoid group of natural products, which have applications in pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, fragrances, fuels, and industrial chemicals. Dr Vickers has worked in academia, government research, and private industry. She currently runs a consultancy company, BioBuilt Solutions; is an adjunct professor at Queensland University of Technology; and is Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder at Senseory Plants. BioBuilt Solutions provides support for research in biotechnology, sustainability, synthetic biology, precision fermentation, and metabolic engineering.
