Dr Jeremy D Valck is an environmental economist, with strong research interests in natural resource management and geographic information systems. Jeremy applies non-market valuation techniques (e.g. choice modelling) to the study of environmental assets, ecosystem services and biodiversity. Since he joined CQUniversity in 2016, he has led or been actively involved in over $2.3M in research projects related to the assessment of socio-cultural, economic and environmental impacts in the Great Barrier Reef region. His current research relates to the application of revealed and stated preference techniques to value the environment. In 2022, Jeremy became Research Theme Leader for Regional and Rural Economies as part of CQU's Centre for Regional Economies and Supply Chains (CRESC). Jeremy currently works in Brisbane and Rockhampton as part of Prof. John Rolfe's Applied Economics Research Group, on a range of issues in link with the environment, food, agriculture, and water economics in the Great Barrier Reef Basin, Queensland.
