BIO
Paola Leardini is an Associate Professor and Director of Research at the University of Queensland's School of Architecture, Design and Planning, where she leads research and teaching in sustainable design across architecture, urbanism, and design disciplines. With extensive experience as an ESD designer, consultant, and educator in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and New Zealand, A/Prof Leardini leverages her global academic and industry network to drive research in urban resilience, nature-based solutions, and strategies for achieving net zero targets. Her work focuses on building decarbonisation and the transition of the construction sector towards a circular economy. She previously coordinated UQ Architecture's contributions to the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities and is currently the Lead Researcher of an ARC Linkage project on adaptable housing. A/Prof Leardini also serves as a Chief Investigator at the ARC Advance Timber Hub, where she leads the Design for Extended Building Life Node.
