BIO

Richard Hoolihan is a Gugu Badhun man from North Queensland who resides in Greenvale on his Traditional Country. Richard is a dedicated and experienced individual with a diverse background in education, training, and emergency services. His work history reflects his passion for Indigenous employment programs and First Nations community engagement. 

Richard is currently pursuing a “Masters of Indigenous Business Leadership” at Monash University. Also, he serves on a number of boards, including:

  • Deputy Chairperson of Gugu Badhun RNTBC.
  • The North Queensland Land Council, where he previously served as Chairperson and currently serves as a Director for the Charters Towers/Hughenden/Richmond Ward and Chairs the NQLC Economic Development Portfolio.
  • North Queensland Dry Tropics, where he is a Director and Chairs the Traditional Owner Management Group, ensuring effective engagement with the seventeen Traditional Owner groups across the Burdekin Dry Tropics region in Natural Resources Projects.
  • Landcare Australia - First Nations Landcare Working Group Member, providing advice to the Landcare Australia Board, collaborating with key stakeholders, to integrate First Nations knowledge into landcare practices and ensure the sustainable management of our lands.
