Dr. Mahmood Sadat-Noori is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering (Water Resources Management) at James Cook University (JCU), where he also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Master’s of Engineering - Water Resources Management.
His research focuses on the interface of surface and groundwater hydrology, water quality, and environmental restoration, with a particular emphasis on how surface-groundwater interactions influence water quality in rivers and estuaries.
A key aspect of his work involves exploring nature-based solutions, such as wetland restoration and vegetated buffer zones, to improve water quality and restore degraded aquatic ecosystems. He has authored over 50 journal and conference papers, making significant contributions to hydrology and environmental engineering fields. His research outcomes play an important role in advancing the understanding and management of water resources in coastal and estuarine systems. In recognition of his expertise, Mahmood serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hydrology.
