Dr Naoya Takeda is a Research Associate at Queensland University of Technology. His research focuses on carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling in agroecosystems, aiming at reducing environmentally harmful N losses including nitrous oxide (N2O), a potent greenhouse gas (GHG), while increasing N use efficiency and soil C stocks to sustain agricultural productivity. His approach combines field monitoring using automated GHG chamber systems, stable isotopes (e.g. 13C and 15N) and eddy covariance flux towers as well as simulation analyses using process-based biogeochemical models such as APSIM, DayCent and LandscapeDNDC. Application of his research aids GHG inventories, C farming and life cycle assessments in agricultural systems. Through research, he aims to provide decision support for farmers and policymakers towards zero-net emission and circularity in agricultural industries.
